Volleyball player Sara Peterson gains self-confidence through sport

Sara Peterson is a junior at Duluth High School in Georgia, and a volleyball player competing in the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games for Team Georgia.

She joined Special Olympics in 2013, and this will be her first appearance in the USA Games. Sara values camaraderie and looks forward to seeing everyone work together. “The Special Olympics has given me confidence in large groups and crowds and has helped me develop leadership skills at school,” she says.

Sara, a Kaiser Permanente member, volunteers as an athletic trainer for the football team at her high school. When not training with her team, Sara loves spending time with her family, hiking, bowling, and visiting waterfalls.
