Great play after great play, and win after win, marked Team Washington’s flag football games at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games. Kaiser Permanente members Joshua Bennett, Troy Marsh, and Sam Shelton were key players throughout the games and received frequent call-outs from the announcers for skillful running, passing, and intercepting. You name it, they were on it, playing hard and doing their best. At one point in the second game, the announcer even singled out powerhouse Joshua as a “running machine.”

While a win evaded them in their championship match, sending them home with silver, each athlete is taking home something even more special:

Joshua: “We practiced a lot, and we got here, and we did good. I’ll never forget this.”

Troy: “I had the time of a lifetime.”

Sam: “I’ve had such a great time, and I’m proud of how everyone did. My teammates are my brothers now and I’ll never forget this experience, or them.”
